Start with a book and one useful AI request. If access or payment is interrupted, check the account state before trying again.

Your first scene

  1. Choose Start a book for a blank chapter, or Import a book for an existing draft.
  2. Check AI readiness. Activate an available trial explicitly, or set up a paid subscription, prepaid balance, and a positive usage cap.
  3. Choose Draft a scene and describe what happens, or select existing prose and choose Revise selection (Revise on a small screen). You do not need to complete a story bible first.
  4. Read the suggestion and choose what to keep. Add character and world notes as you need more consistent context.

Checkout or balance not showing?

  1. Open Billing and AI usage in the same signed-in account. Returning from checkout is not payment confirmation; the subscription or balance must appear in your account.
  2. If confirmation is pending, use Check account again. Keep the checkout receipt or payment reference if you have one. Do not repeat payment just to refresh the page.
  3. A subscription does not include AI tokens. Once the subscription is active, separately add prepaid funds and set a positive monthly usage cap.
  4. For a paused or suspended account, adding more money will not remove the restriction. You can keep working on your manuscript while access is unavailable.

The billing portal, when available, manages your payment method and cancellation. Self-service plan changes are not available yet. This page provides self-service guidance, not a support ticket or a promised response time.

Check billing and AI access

AI is unavailable, but you can still write

Check trial expiry and remaining tokens, prepaid balance, the account usage cap, and any additional book limit. A trial uses Sonnet 5 only. Pending requests can reserve funds or trial tokens; use Refresh pending usage in billing before adding more. A model or service can also be unavailable even when your account is funded.

If a status check fails, retry the check instead of starting another payment. For an interrupted generation, check the Activity tab and the manuscript before sending the request again. Do not assume an interrupted request was free. Keep a manuscript export for a copy you control.
